With low oil mist and evaporation, the product allows the metalworking industry to increase protection for people and the environment while at the same time increasing machining quality and lowering production costs. This is achieved with the clever raw material concept underlying rhenus EHM 7, which is based on a highly refined, aromatic-free base oil.

Daniele Kleinmann, Product Manager for Precision Machining at Rhenus Lub, summarises the essential technical requirements: “When grinding hard metals in particular, tools and machines are subjected to high loads as a result of the material’s high strength and hardness. To achieve the best surface qualities and long service lives, the coolant must satisfy the most demanding of requirements in terms of cooling and flushing properties. In addition, our customers have an obligation to effectively prevent the release of cobalt during machining as a preventive measure to protect the health and safety of their employees in the workplace”.

rhenus EHM 7 is free of cyclic compounds and therefore prevents the release of cobalt in advance. At the same time, the lubricant does not contain chlorine and heavy metals such as lead, zinc and barium. This further benefits customers in terms of user-friendliness. Due to its innovative composition, rhenus EHM 7 shows no sign of evaporating or forming mist — even when grinding is being performed with high pressures. Since only a small amount of the high-performance oil is used, Rhenus Lub customers are able to reduce lubricant consumption and fluid costs, thereby improving the efficiency of their production process step by step.

The low-viscosity product is characterised by an exceptionally high flash point of 165 degrees Celsius. Its particularly good air separation capability increases machining quality; low foam production guarantees customers an unobstructed view of the workpiece. This enables companies in the metalworking industry to achieve higher levels of cleanliness and safety when machining tools.
