REACH and RoHS

We take responsibility for our actions and for our products – along the entire value chain.

This applies to everything from raw materials and their origins to production methods, the choice of our partners through to disposal.

REACH and RoHS provide standardisation and serve as a common basis for industry – and they’re also relevant to us.

REACH: on the safe side with Rhenus Lub

REACH is an EU-wide regulation on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals (pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006).

It is one of the strictest and most up-to-date pieces of chemicals legislation in the world. All raw materials and additives in rhenus high-performance lubricants are registered in accordance with the strict provisions of REACH. Our customers therefore benefit from absolute safety according to the latest requirements.

Protecting people and the environment

REACH ensures better protection for people and the environment against the risks posed by chemical substances. It also allows chemicals to be circulated freely on the single market while promoting competition and innovation. That is why Rhenus Lub is in constant dialogue with other lubricant manufacturers in pan-European consortia, ensuring that all chemical products used in rhenus high-performance lubricating greases and metalworking fluids are the subject of proactive research, documentation and registration. In this way, we guarantee to our customers that all rhenus products are available with the high level of quality that they have come to expect. After all, REACH and Rhenus Lub are ultimately pursuing the same goal: namely, to improve safety for people and the environment.

Improving safety through transparency

According to REACH, new substances may not be manufactured in the EU or imported into the EU in quantities of more than one tonne per year without prior registration. The rule is: “No data, no market.” Registration of a substance considers its entire life-cycle, as well as its compliance with specific requirements to ensure safe use. Rhenus Lub takes a consistent approach to implementing these requirements: all raw materials and additives used in rhenus high-performance lubricants are registered in good time in accordance with the strict provisions of REACH – to improve safety through transparency.

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)

Directive 2011/65/EU serves to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. It regulates the use and placing on the market of hazardous substances in electrical equipment and electronic components. In connection with the use of lubricating greases and metalworking fluids, we confirm that, according to current knowledge, all preparations* produced by Rhenus Lub are compliant with Directive 2011/65/EU and Delegated Directive 2015/863/EU amending and expanding the RoHS Directive.
